Call for projects - Manufacto, the know-how factory

The Fondation d'entreprise Hermès is launching a call for projects as part of its " Manufacto, la fabrique des savoir-faire" program to raise awareness in schools of the skills and crafts of the hand. Designers are invited to design a new object for Manufacto. The object will introduce a new trade to the program, such as stonemasonry, plumbing or metalwork.
Launched in 2016, the Manufacto, la fabrique des savoir-faire program introduces pupils from CM1 to seconde to craft skills through the creation of an object. During twelve classroom sessions, a craftsman, a teacher and an assistant guide pupils in learning one of the four trades on offer: joinery, leatherwork, saddlery and plastering. Supported by the French Ministry of Education and the Compagnons du Devoir, the program encourages students to discover new skills, develop rigor and mutual support, and build confidence. Present in 96 schools across 16 académies, the program reaches over 2,400 students, raising awareness among the younger generation of the sustainability of craft trades.
