Le Vaisseau de Galatée: a monumental work for the Royal Opera House at the Château de Versailles

Among his latest creations is Le Vaisseau de Galatée, a textile design for Porpora's set Polifemo, created by Roland Fontaine for theOpéra Royal du Château de Versailles. This impressive installation includes two monumental curtains made from 300 m² of fabric.

Textiles with pleated vertical stripes evoke both the sails of a ship and the damp walls of a cave. Their pearly surface recalls the texture of a shell or the geological strata of a rocky landscape. Thanks to a subtle play of light, these textiles become moving walls of water or a rain of light.

This achievement was made possible with the support of Kvadrat for the textiles and Solt Atelier for the garments.
