Les Grands Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris 2025 - Grégoire Scalabre, president of the métiers d'art jury

Grégoire Scalabre, ceramist, president of the jury for the Grands Prix de la Création 2025 in the Métiers d'art category, accompanied by a jury of experts.

Grégoire Scalabre is a French ceramist and sculptor. Trained since adolescence, he first explored lump throwing and utilitarian forms, before breaking away to develop a sculptural approach. His residency at the Manufacture de Sèvres (2010-2013) marked a turning point: there, he conceived "Astrée", his first monumental work based on accumulation. Since then, he has exhibited in major venues such as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée National de Sèvres. In 2022, he was awarded the "Intelligence de la Main" prize for "Thétis".

What do the Grands Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris mean to you?

The Grands Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris are a true recognition for the winning artists. The event is a real springboard for new talent, offering visibility and spotlighting exceptional skills, innovative approaches and responsible, sometimes surprising initiatives.
It's a support program in which the community spirit encourages dialogue. In addition to highlighting know-how and creative approaches, it encourages enriching encounters and exchanges between players from diverse backgrounds, creating a dynamic of sharing and mutual support that is invaluable to the development of their profession.

What does this presidency mean to you?

As a ceramist, I'm very proud to have been appointed president of the jury and to represent the crafts section of the Grands Prix de la Création. I'm also delighted to be able to contribute my very contemporary vision of craftsmanship, which I believe should be fully at the service of art and creation. It was with this in mind that I set up my jury.
Being president of the jury also means taking on a real responsibility. This prize is not just a reward, but a commitment to supporting and promoting the work of artists, creators and craftspeople. It's an accompaniment that brings both recognition and opportunities.

What do you expect from candidates for the Revelation and Commitment Awards?

The jury will pay particular attention to technical mastery, creativity and craftsmanship, and we'll be especially attentive to each designer's unique identity. Each creator has a unique universe, a singular path that is reflected in his or her creations.
Above all, I hope to discover genuine vocations, paths shaped by passion: a singular artistic approach, striking originality, intense creative energy, an uncommon approach, a sensitivity to today's world...
The Prix Révélation is a wonderful opportunity to reveal promising talents, capable of surprising and bringing a vision.
What makes fine crafts so beautiful is the freedom they offer: the freedom to express oneself fully, without being constrained by techniques, but on the contrary mastering them to make them an artistic language, an extension of oneself.
For the Prix Engagement, I expect an original and creative approach that combines innovation and research, and that can respond to the world's current challenges.
Above all, these prizes are an encouragement, a boost given to those who dare to express their vision, to enrich the world and know-how.
