Call for projects -
The Metamorphoses of Matter
Applications open until May 15, 2026

As part of Paris Design Week 2026, La Fabrique Pointcarré andAtelier Athem are organizing, in partnership with Fibois Ile-de-France, the Maison des Canaux, and the Swiss Cultural Center, Les Métamorphoses de la Matière, an exhibition on circular design. The exhibition aims to showcase objects and furniture created through the upcycling of tarpaulins and parquet flooring.
Les Métamorphoses de la Matière advocates a sensitive and material approach to design, in which the project's intention arises from direct contact with the materials. Here, constraints become a creative force and open up new possibilities.
This edition focuses on creativity in the service of a central challenge: the renewal of retail; future exhibitors are invited to explore the design of new products and store layouts.
For your application to be accepted, your project must meet the following criteria:
- Whether the pieces are made partially or entirely from reused parquet flooring and tarpaulin;
- Whether the piece created is an object, a piece of furniture, or a design related to the theme of this edition: the store of the future;
- That the piece is reproducible and marketable;
- Make sure the project is submitted on time!
Projects that have already been completed or proposed in the form of plans, drawings, or 3D visuals are accepted as part of the application. The designer must ensure that they will be able to deliver the finished piece in time for the exhibition.
The Fabrique Pointcarré Materials Library provides candidates with samples of parquet flooring and tarpaulin scraps to help them prepare their applications.
Once the call for projects has been selected, free and full access to the Material Library's stocks is guaranteed for the creation of the final piece.
- Visits to the Materials Library: Discovery sessions will be held starting Monday, February 26, to allow visitors to explore the materials available.
The selected pieces will be exhibited at the Maison des Canaux during Paris Design Week in September 2026.
