Presentation of the scheme

Nicolas Brulez

Designed for students, graduates and adults undergoing retraining, the "Savoir-faire en transmission" awards give you the opportunity to gain significant professional experience with concrete projects, perfect your know-how and observe the day-to-day running of a company.

Each candidate must first make arrangements with an experienced craftsman or craftswoman, whose workshop is located in Paris or the inner suburbs, where they can gain a better understanding of the specificities of the trade for which they are applying, and the realities of company life. In the case of rare trades, the host company may be located outside the Paris region. The 12-month internships start in January or April, depending on the winner's choice.

For the 2023 edition, 23 prizes were awarded by the City of Paris and by the patrons: the Rémy Cointreau Foundation, the Michelle and Antoine Riboud Foundation, 19 M, the Fédération française de la maroquinerie and Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp via the Fonds de dotation pour les Ateliers de Paris.

Conditions of participation

The art professions among which candidates can apply come under the list of art professions, set by the ministerial decree of December 24, 2015. This list comprises 198 trades and 83 specialties divided into 16 fields.

Winners are selected primarily on the coherence of their career path, their motivation and the quality of their professional project, with no age or specific diploma requirements.

Applications are examined jointly by the Bureau du Design, de la Mode et des Métiers d'Art, the Institut pour les savoir-faire français, the Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat de Paris and the sponsors.

File creation

Each candidate must attach the following documents in PDF format:

  • A document to be completed explaining the reasons for applying, the candidate's background and career plans. Download here

This document (two to three pages maximum) should set out the detailed program of technical and cross-disciplinary teaching for each period or quarter (techniques taught, knowledge of the company, how it operates, etc.).
  • A presentation of the candidate's personal achievements, with photos if possible (10 pages maximum).
