Resident profile - Clémentine Despocq

Jeweller and visual artist Clémentine Despocq sees jewelry as a precious medium for stories and emotions, as a companion.

With a dual arts and design background, she trained in traditional and contemporary jewelry techniques at AFEDAP, then in industrial product design at HEAD Geneva.

Since 2017, Clémentine has been shaping and creating her jewelry by hand while questioning the material. Mother-of-pearl meets metal and becomes a material conducive to metamorphosis. Pearls are pierced, cut and dressed using tools and techniques that she develops as she experiments.

Playing with techniques, confronting opposing shapes and colors in the search for perfect harmony, the jewel becomes a hybrid, a fusion of several techniques and influences.

Resident at Les Ateliers de Paris from 2018 to 2020, Clémentine develops her work around collections composed of small series and one-off pieces that she enriches to the rhythm of her inspirations.

At the same time, she offers a bespoke service, transforming antique jewelry, lonely pearls or fleeting ideas, following her own inspirations and those of her customers.

Based in Montreuil since 2020, her studio will open its doors on October 14 and 15 during the Portes Ouvertes des Ateliers d'Artistes de Montreuil.

Parcours Bijoux Festival

As part of the Parcours Bijoux festival, Clémentine will be exhibiting her work and her thoughts on the knot in the group show "Le nœud revu" (The Knot Revisited) from October 5 to 21 at Galerie Amira Sliman Jewellery.

The 4th Parcours Bijoux will take place from October 2 to 29, 2023.

Organized by the Association D'un Bijou A L'autre, the event aims to raise the profile of contemporary jewelry.

With the support of the BDMMA and many other partners, this triennial promises to be particularly rich, with over 200 artists, 43 exhibitions and 3 events throughout Paris. Through museums, galleries, schools and boutiques, come and discover jewelry in all its forms, materials and means of expression.
