Resident profile - Auriane Blandin-Gall

Designer of the Cèucle brand, an upcycled, timeless and unisex wardrobe.

Auriane Blandin-Gall

A graduate of the Beaux-arts de Rennes and then of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in styling and pattern-making, and after 6 years in a fashion house as a designer and development manager, Auriane Blandin-Gall founded Cèucle at the end of 2021.

The brand offers an upcycled, timeless and unisex wardrobe. Blending streetwear and Japanese inspirations, the pieces play on oversized volumes, cut-outs, asymmetries and rockers.

The first pieces developed are initially aimed at children, as their wardrobe is completely renewed on a regular basis, so Auriane sees a real need to offer upcycled pieces. The adult line will be launched at the end of 2022.

The starting point of the wardrobe is a single, unisex silhouette, available in several colors and composed of a jacket, sweatshirt and pants. Since then, it has evolved and grown organically, with a skirt, a cardigan, a second pair of pants, a long jacket, a bib...

Creativity through constraint

At Cèucle, design feeds on technique and vice versa: playing on volumes, but above all on asymmetries, tilts and shifts, while keeping in mind the constraints of cutting and making in the workshop. How can we transform a technical constraint into a design asset? How can we optimize the cut and assembly of a detail while retaining its uniqueness?

Forging links and working with what already exists

Particularly sensitive to exchanges with workshops and the transmission of know-how, Auriane chose to collaborate with Mode Estime, a work-integration workshop based on Île-Saint-Denis, from the very first production run. This collaboration continues and grows with each new production and new model.

The materials used come from dead stock, in response to obvious ecological concerns: make do with what exists, don't produce new materials. But it's also an attempt to circumvent the technical constraints imposed by this process (limited quantities, different widths, etc.), which is a source of creative challenge. Each piece produced is numbered, accompanied by a hangtag specifying where it was made.

To celebrate its 2nd anniversary, Cèucle invites you to visit its ephemeral boutique at the Galerie des Ateliers in Paris from November 16 to 19, 2023.
