Resident profile - Hanako Stubbe

Hanako Stubbe, textile designer and resident weaver at Les Ateliers de Paris, creates bespoke weavings for home furnishings and decoration. Her delicate creations explore fabric architecture and chromatic harmonies through locally sourced linen and wool. Her work combines meticulous craftsmanship, sensory research and an ethical commitment to exclusive, long-lasting textiles.

Hanako StubbeHanako Stubbe, a resident of Les Ateliers de Paris, is a textile designer and weaver. She creates exclusive, made-to-measure weavings for furniture and interior decoration. Delicate, meticulous and imbued with sensoriality, her textiles explore fabric architecture, chromatic interactions and the expressive properties of the material (linen and wool), which is sourced locally for ethical and ecological reasons.

Trained at ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres and ENSCI-Les Ateliers in Paris, she founded her studio in 2021.

Today, she works with major furniture fabric publishers such as Pierre Frey, Élitis and Larsen, developing exclusive textiles for collections such as curtains, seats and cushions.

At the same time, she works in collaboration with designers, artisans and brands to create bespoke hand-woven textiles for exceptional decoration and design projects: lighting fixtures, wall panels and other unique pieces.

Her murals are regularly featured in exhibitions in France and abroad, notably at Galerie Handwerk in Munich, where she frequently exhibits.

COLLABORATION: EDO TOKYO KIRARI PROGRAM

Hanako takes part in the Edo Tokyo Kirari program, which brings together Japanese companies with traditional know-how and French designers, to work on innovative collaborative projects aimed at developing new products and markets.

From October 13 to 17, she spent time in Tokyo, immersing herself in two excellent artisan workshops: Domyo, Japan's leader in traditional Kumihimo weaving, and Maekawa Inden, a specialist in Inden lacquered leather.

The result of this collaboration will be decorative wall panels for interior architecture projects (wall applications and custom fittings), which will be unveiled at MAISON & OBJET from January 15 to 19, 2026, and at the Galerie des Ateliers in Paris for two weeks. 

NEW WORKSHOP & EQUIPMENT

Winner of the AIMA (DRAC Île-de-France, Ministry of Culture) and the honorary loan from the Michèle and Antoine Riboud FoundationHanako was able to acquire a large loom. This equipment will enable her to develop more made-to-measure projects for the B2B sector and interior design.

His workshop expanded to 28 rue Faidherbe, 75011 Paris, within the Ateliers de Paris, marking a major new stage in the development of his business.

EXHIBITION: DECATHLON x SAMUEL TOMATIS

From November 5 to 16, a piece of clothing resulting from the collaboration between Hanako, designer Samuel Tomatis and the Decathlon brand will be presented at the Magasins Généraux in Pantin, as part of a dedicated exhibition.

CURATION : CRAFTERS OF TODAY

His small woven works, the " Petits Nuno ", are available on the e-shop Crafters of Todaye-shop, a platform dedicated to women's handicrafts. An interview about her practice accompanies this selection. 

EXHIBITION: GALERIE HANDWERK IN MUNICH 

Hanako is taking part in the "Tradition and Modernity" exhibition at Galerie Handwerk in Munich, from October 2 to November 8, 2025. On this occasion, she presents a new piece from her collaboration with feather weaver Maud Ruby, following on from their " feather-weaving " work previously exhibited at Oui Design New York initiated by the Villa Albertine.
