Residents' portraits - Garnier et Linker

Damian Noszkowicz

Guillaume Garnier and Florent Linker are two French designers based in Paris. They were residents at Ateliers de Paris from 2013 to 2015.

Their work is based on rare materials and know-how that they reinterpret in a contemporary way. All the pieces are made in small series by hand in French art workshops.

As designers, they are inspired by both decorative arts and sculpture to create objects with pure forms that reveal the material. Their experience in interior architecture allows them to propose objects that fit into contemporary interiors. Each creation is designed to be modifiable by architects and decorators according to the needs of their projects.

Garnier and Linker

The link between Garnier & Linker and Japan has been established in successive stages since 2014, when they took part in the Kyoto Contemporary programme as residents of the Ateliers de Paris. The dialogue with Japanese craftsmen to find new applications for ancestral know-how has since continued and has enriched multiple projects.

Some of this research has also given rise to recurring collections, such as the KITAYAMA cedar furniture, the washi paper screens and certain lacquer and ceramic objects in the Garnier & Linker Objects collection.

As part of their participation in the Inspiration of Kyoto programme, Garnier and Linker will participate in the exhibition that will take place in the Galerie des Ateliers in Paris from 8 to 30 September 2022, on the occasion of Paris Design Week.
