Camille Bruat at Nathanaël Le Berre

“My learning process is based on a balance between technical rigor and artistic reflection.”
Camille Bruat graduated from the Bourges School of Fine Arts in 2015 and earned a master’s degree in research from the Faculty of Arts in Strasbourg, while simultaneously developing her metal sculpture practice. After five years teaching drawing at the ESAJ School of Landscape Architecture, she joined the studio of bronze caster Pierre Salagnac in 2025 before turning her attention to copperwork.
She develops a drawing practice using metal and employs techniques such as forging, welding, hammering sheet metal, chiseling, and engraving. Metal translates the drawing into three-dimensional form and, more specifically, into copperwork.

“It was through exploring the world of traditional crafts and meeting artisans that I discovered the Savoir-Faire en Transmission Award .”
Her encounter with Pierre Salagnac led her to Nathanaël Le Berre’s studio, where his approach to copperwork—demanding yet open to experimentation—immediately resonated with her own background. Copperwork, a “light dance of the hand,” is a slow, meditative, and meaningful practice capable of reconciling artisanal precision with artistic expression. Camille sees it as a field teeming with possibilities: patinas, finishes, acid etching, chiseling, and forms. Nathanaël Le Berre recognized the artistic potential of this collaboration, hoping to broaden his technical approach.

In the workshop, she learned fundamental techniques (shrinking, stamping, stretching, and soldering) through pieces she designed herself, incorporating patinas, engravings, and surface treatments. This allowed her to revisit her “Nuages” tables by Nathanaël Le Berre, and he taught her the importance of meticulous finishes, rigor in project management, and the basics of copperwork.
““This program is a crucial stepping stone in my career transition: it allows me to devote myself fully to it”
Beyond the practical skills, Camille is developing expertise in project management, working with specialized suppliers, customer relations, and understanding the arts and crafts market. She is being mentored by a leading figure in the field, which is helping her build a solid foundation for a long-term career. Camille and Nathanaël are actively exploring ways to continue their collaboration within the company.
