Alexis Fredholm at Maxime Bellaunay

“This experience has been very rewarding and has turned out exactly as I hoped, allowing me to grow every day.”
Alexis Fredholm began his studies at the École Boulle in 2018, joining the chair-making workshop, where he trained for six years before spending a year researching and experimenting with composite materials.
Alexis met Maxime Bellaunay in 2024 during an internship and wanted to learn from him about the daily life of a designer who
blends movement, materials, and landscape.
Driven by a desire to continue this collaboration, Alexis naturally thought of the Savoir-Faire en Transmission Award, which he had discovered while he was a student.

Now that he has earned his degree, he holds a position that could be described as an assistant role. He is honing his skills alongside Maxime through each of the tasks that make up the daily rhythm of the workshop: welcoming clients, communication, drafting, prototyping, and manufacturing parts, among other things.

“This year of apprenticeship is therefore a crucial step in my professional development, as it gradually prepares me to open my own studio.”
The start of the year has been very eventful, with pieces being installed at various sites, the launch of research projects, and the development of a new approach that allows Alexis to learn how to shape metal on the anvil.
