"In the workshop, I see everything I didn't see at school, the life and management of a workshop and following a project from A to Z." - Amaryllis Bouyer

Amaryllis Bouyer, winner of the 2024 Savoir-faire en transmission awards, is doing her internship with Stéphanie Lacoste, founder and creative director of Curiosité Textile. Having completed a dual apprenticeship in space/volume design and communication at ESAA in Lyon and in textile design at ENSAV la Cambre in Brussels, Amaryllis spent two months at the studio before applying for the Prix Savoir-faire en transmission.

Curiosité Textile is a workshop in which the founder deepens her woven explorations around color, light and the encounters she can have with various materials. Dyeing, weaving and the creation of weaving materials are the fundamentals of this workshop of textile curiosities.

For Stéphanie, transmission is essential, and has been an integral part of her career as a DNMADE Materials and Weaving teacher since 2009. The "Savoir-faire en transmission" prize therefore seemed to be the ideal solution for hosting a long-term trainee. Stéphanie would be able to share her daily routine of weaving, natural dyeing, order management and project follow-up.

During this year-long internship, Amaryllis immerses herself in in-depth technical training. She explores weaving on large looms, riser looms and computer-assisted weaving. She also discovers new natural dyeing techniques, a speciality of the workshop.

Stéphanie Lacoste also guides Amaryllis through the practical aspects of the company, including customer relationship management, project management and day-to-day business life.

"As I have a double degree, I want to combine my apprenticeships in scenography and weaving, to perhaps later set up my own structure."
