Lucie Chamouton at Atelier Brillo - 2025

Lucie Chamonton and Louis Lepais in front of the Brillo workshop
Brillo signs were founded by two friends, Louis Lepais and Etienne Renard, both specialists in lettering paint for signs, shop windows and storefronts.
After working independently for several years, the two partners opened their workshop in the 11th arrondissement in 2021. This enabled them to take on larger-scale projects, welcome customers and pass on their know-how by training trainees alongside them.
After disappearing between the 1980s and 2000s, letter painting is now making a comeback, requiring hands-on learning in the absence of specific training. It was with this in mind that Lucie Chamouton contacted Brillo, proposing that together they apply for the Prix Savoir-faire en transmission for the 2025 session.

Lucie arrived in January 2025, she had already explored letter painting but wanted to learn the trade, her profile was interesting to us.
Lucie was able to take advantage of the winter months to deepen her knowledge in the workshop before going out into the field to provide support in the spring.

I've learned a lot and still have a lot to learn! I'm very happy because it's impossible to find a framework like this elsewhere, while being paid for a year's apprenticeship.
After this year's apprenticeship, Louis and Etienne are looking forward to continuing their collaboration with Lucie, who will join the team at the end of her internship year.
