"It's an opportunity

Ludmila Armandin and Hermine Torikian talking about the Savoir-faire en transmission award

Hermine Torikian, founder of the eponymous workshop specializing in fine cabinetmaking and contemporary marquetry, has been welcoming Ludmila Armandin, winner of the Prix Savoir-faire en transmission 2024, for a year since April.

The story of Hermine Torikian and Ludmila Armandin began with Ludmila's five-week internship in Hermine's workshop as part of her cabinetmaking CAP. Hermine remembers this period with pleasure:

"I enjoyed passing on my cabinetmaking and entrepreneurial skills to her. Ludmila proved to be willing, rigorous and meticulous."

This fruitful collaboration quickly proved mutually beneficial, prompting Hermine to extend the experience.

Hermine Torikian, a graduate in architecture and cabinetmaking, has always had a passion for marquetry. After five years as workshop manager at Guilhem Huynh, she decided in January 2023 to set up her own cabinetmaking workshop, specializing in contemporary marquetry. Based in Ivry-sur-Seine, she worked alone before Ludmila arrived, creating one-off pieces of furniture and decorative panels in three-dimensional marquetry for architects and designers.

For her part, Ludmila Armandin, attracted by crafts from an early age, first trained as a self-taught woodworker, making furniture from recycled materials. She then decided to professionalize her passion by obtaining a CAP in cabinetmaking in June 2023.

Ludmila, describes the impact of her immersion in the workshop:

"From my point of view as an intern and learner, Hermine welcomed me. We didn't know each other, but from the very first days, she welcomed me with a lot of confidence. She immediately put me to work on customer projects that were going to be seen, so that gave me a stake, but also made me want to learn even more. "

For Hermine, this collaboration is a valuable opportunity to pass on her know-how and benefit from Ludmila's skills. "Our collaboration is beneficial for both Ludmila and me," Hermine emphasizes.

"As the beginnings of a business are often a solitary adventure, working in Ludmila's company has been very helpful in accomplishing the workshop's projects."
