“This award represents a pivotal opportunity for me as I transition into a new career.”

A business school graduate, Margaux worked for four years at a jewelry house. Having always been drawn to gemstones, their colors, and their textures, her time in jewelry design shaped her aesthetic sensibility, and mosaic art builds on that foundation. Margaux continues this practice in the studio of mosaic artist Gaspard Mahieu, where she works with marble, porcelain stoneware, and glass paste…
Following an internship in his studio, Gaspard suggested that Margaux apply for the 2026 Savoir-Faire en Transmission Award.

“This hands-on experience allows me to hone my skills and make tangible progress in my career as a mosaic artist.”

Gaspard’s studio offers a rich learning environment thanks to the diversity of its projects—ranging from figurative compositions to more graphic explorations—and its use of a variety of materials in high-end, large-scale projects.

At the studio, Margaux helps bring projects to life and contributes to Gaspard’s creative research process. At the same time, she helps ensure the studio runs smoothly by managing its day-to-day operations. Working alongside Gaspard, she is learning how to prepare quotes for architects, estimate production times, and ensure the financial viability of projects.

This program is designed for the long term and provides a comprehensive understanding of the craft. It covers every aspect of a workshop, from design to management. The training alternates between classroom instruction and hands-on practice, with regular check-ins to closely monitor my progress.

“As part of my career transition, this program is a key tool for reinforcing what I’ve learned, building my credibility, and fully committing myself to the arts and crafts as a craftsperson.”
