Paris-Ateliers is an association under the French law of 1901, subsidized by the City of Paris. Founded in 1977 under the acronym ADAC (Association pour le Développement de l'Animation Culturelle) and at the instigation of Jacques Chirac, Mayor of Paris. Its mission is to "offer Parisians of all ages and backgrounds an introduction to various craft techniques". In 2007, it became Paris-Ateliers.

Today, Paris-Ateliers offers nearly 5,000 enthusiasts the opportunity to practice excellence in fine crafts and the related plastic arts. Nearly 560 weekly classes are organized throughout the school year in more than a hundred disciplines, and discovery or advanced courses take over during the school vacations.

From the outset, Paris-Ateliers has aimed to offer everyone, beginners and initiates alike, Parisians and non-Parisians alike, the opportunity to gain practical experience of exceptional skills and techniques, while helping to preserve them through the transmission of skills and the vocations they inspire.

Paris-Ateliers offers a third-party space, free from an immediate professional purpose without excluding the aim, seeking to open up the perspectives of its participants, to reveal talents through the exploration of creativity and the development of skills alongside passionate and qualified instructors.

Paris-Ateliers also plays a supportive role for the artists and craftspeople who run its workshops, offering them a close dialogue with the local population as well as a regular income to complement their professional activity.

Paris Ateliers encourages a melting pot of identities, a crossroads of backgrounds and a dialogue between generations. Each class brings together around ten people of all ages and backgrounds, sharing the same passion and creating a genuine community of accomplished amateurs.

Paris Ateliers offers 77 workshops for discovering and experimenting with fine crafts. Eva Bellanger, Galatée Preste and other former Ateliers de Paris residents lead workshops.

Paris-Ateliers is subsidized by the City of Paris.
