Resident profile - Diane Collongues
Diane Collongues, designer of the Mérigot Sanzay textile workshop in residence at Les Ateliers de Paris
The Mérigot Sanzay textile studio designs and manufactures works for interiors, to build pleasant, comfortable environments in which we feel good.
Behind Mérigot Sanzay is Diane Collongues, master craftswoman and textile enthusiast. With a degree in textile design from Ensaama, she went on to train in haute lice tapestry at the Manufacture des Gobelins.
In 2021, Diane set up her own textile workshop, where all her favorite skills will be represented. Using textiles as a vehicle for her sensibility, she invests various formats to bring together her melancholy and nostalgic feelings, the thread and the public.

The workshop practices two traditional textile techniques: tapestry and frame weaving. The latter is one of the workshop's development projects.
His techniques are the link with the material, between the concept and the work, and become an integral part of the creative process thanks to the aesthetic qualities they allow. Technique doesn't bend with the concept; it's a perpetual dialogue to materialize projects.
"I like to build comforting interiors. My universe is inspired by melancholy feelings, consoled by material and color: my works are cathartic. Textile is an emotional medium, reassuring and enveloping."

She chose this name as a tribute to her grandmothers, who passed on to her their fascination for handmade products. It was also her feminist commitment that led her to highlight her grandmothers' maiden names.
His creations, which can be made-to-measure, are aimed at decorating professionals, art galleries and collectors.

Parce qu'il faisait beau exhibition from October 11 to 13
In the exhibition Parce qu'il faisait beauDiane invites four artists to discuss mourning and the funeral home. On this occasion, she wishes to give a central place to her photographs, the starting point for all her textile production.
Parce qu'il faisait beau is an exhibition that offers a silent exploration of the emotions that shape our relationship with loss and memory. It reveals the multiple and unspeakable facets of pain, nostalgia and resilience, while highlighting the fragility and strength of attachment. Conceived as a personal reliquary, the exhibition offers a space where memory is discreetly deposited, evoking reparation through artistic creation and the immortality of remembrance.
