Resident Profiles - Boscoier

BOSCOIER was born out of the friendship between Bosco, the son of a bañista (swimmer), and Oier, the son of an arrantzale (fisherman). Bound together from the Basque Country all the way to Paris, their close bond gave rise to a French ready-to-wear fashion house.

Inspired by Basque culture and the central figure of the matriarch, the brand celebrates this heritage through a contemporary vision, bringing it to the world stage.

BOSCOIERis the story of an encounter that blossoms into friendship. It tells the story of how Bosco Tamames and Oier Gil met and became friends, and the tension between their backgrounds. It refers to Hondarribia: Bosco’s summer home and Oier’s hometown. BOSCOIER embodies a passion for fashion, craftsmanship, tradition, and beauty. It begins in the Basque Country and continues in Paris.

The project focuses on creatinga Frenchready-to-wear brand inspired by Basque culture and the matriarchal woman, with the ambition of promoting and showcasing it worldwide. Today, after two years in business, the Paris-based brand has already established significant ties with distribution channels in the region (particularly in Biarritz, San Sebastián, and Bilbao).

In addition, influential Basque figures, such as Miren Arzalluz (president of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao) and interior designer Marta de la Rica, have supported and guided the project from its inception.

Finally, Tamames and Gil teach at the Institut Français de la Mode, which also serves as a witness to and supporter of the duo of designers and entrepreneurs. The following short film, shot in 2025 and co-directed by the founders of BOSCOIER, offers a simple yet comprehensive look at the brand’s world:

Residents at Les Ateliers de Paris since September 2025, Bosco Tamames and Oier Gil have devoted this first academic year to developing their collection Mobility Wear, inspired by women on the move: women who protect themselves from the rain and wind just as we do in the Basque Country in the summer while cycling.
