DACH&ZEPHIR

" This award is an important recognition for us. After 10 years in business, it was important for our practice, which is concentrated in the French West Indies, to be recognized as legitimate. Especially as it is unique in design. We're delighted to have won the award. Our candidacy was also a political act: we wanted our approach to be visible ," enthuse Florian Dach and Dimitri Zephir.
The pair, who met at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2012, will also use the Prize to develop a digital platform, a sensitive cartography of the territories of the West Indies, aimed at a wide audience. But the duo, with their protean and committed approach, have already attracted a lot of attention. Still students, Florian and Dimitri took part in competitions together, winning the Cinna competition in 2013: a first springboard.
In September 2015, they were named Talents à la Carte at Maison&Objet: an opportunity for them, having just graduated, to make their Dach&Zephir studio official. They now focus entirely on the heritage and traditions of the French West Indies: the history of the archipelago becomes the raw material for their creations.
A work of valorization that they carry out in companies, but also through commissions for objects and furniture edited in small series, unique pieces.
In this design approach, which blends research and creation, transmission is central: Florian and Dimitri run workshops and conferences, and teach at the Ecole Condé.
