Lucie and Bapan met at the École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in Textile Design and fell in love. In 2009, Bapan made Lucie discover India, his native country. During this trip, they met many craftsmen and realized that most of them could no longer find outlets for their know-how, especially because of the explosion of fast fashion, which favours the machine over handwork. They then decided to participate in the safeguarding of these crafts and to this end created their brand MII and, in the wake of this, their workshop in India. A way of working that allows them to satisfy their creative desires, to be more flexible and independent.

The beginnings are not easy: it is necessary to adapt to ways of working that are very different from France, taking into account local, cultural, economic and climatic factors. We learned a lot from the craftsmen, just as they learned from us. Our collections are, in fact, designed in the manner of communicating vessels. We can discover a technique that we want to use to create a garment or use the know-how to translate an inspiration linked to art, literature...", explains Lucie. Lucie and Bapan are currently consolidating their Franco-Indian history. For our next collection, and for the first time, we have collaborated with French companies," explains Lucie. We are thus bringing together the two cultures that are at the heart of our partnership. »
