Resident profile - Antonin Mongin

Antonin Mongin aims to reawaken the "art of working with hair" that has been dormant since the early 20th century, with which cut hair (from donated hair) is no longer considered as waste but as a precious raw material.

Antonin Mongin is a design researcher (Ph.D.) and textile craftsman-designer. After obtaining a Master 2 in textile and material design at ENSAD in Paris, followed by a PhD in design at ENSADLAB (PSL Research University Paris), he opened his studio in Paris.

His work involves the textileization of rare and unusual fibers such as natural or synthetic cut hair, horsehair, raffia, sisal and ramie. In his workshop, he weaves, knits, silkscreen prints and 3D prints textile materials designed and made to order for private customers and luxury fashion and home decoration houses.

In 2020, her Bijoux de Tête collection - developed in collaboration with dach&zephir - was awarded the Prix Spécial du Jury at the 35th Festival International de Mode, de Photographie et d'Accessoires de Mode de Hyères, in the Fashion Accessories category.

You can also discover his work at the Collectible show from March 12 to 16, and at the exhibition Fils et Filiations from March 27 to May 28, and at the Biennale Révélations from May 21 to 25.
