For the past ten years, Anne Roussel has been deploying her expertise as a jewellery designer through her company LA DUCHESSE AUX PIEDS NUS. After a career as an artistic director in fashion and luxury goods, both in France and abroad, she chose to turn to craftsmanship. Her reflection on overconsumption and the place of the "rare" in an industry of excess led her to reinvent her relationship with creation.

Driven by a desire to put materials, time and gesture back at the heart of her work, she designed her first jewels during a diploma course. Encouraged by her family and friends, she decided to found her own company, in homage to her jeweler great-grandmothers. Rather than an eponymous name, Anne Roussel chose a strong, contrasting identity, LA DUCHESSE AUX PIEDS NUS.

"From the outset, I wanted to push back the boundaries of traditional jewelry design and offer something else: Collectors jewelry. This brand embodies both tradition and a rediscovered link with my family roots."

The designer also explores auteur jewelry, creating a dialogue between art and craftsmanship. Each year, she imagines "wearable ring-sculptures", unique pieces inspired by her travels, notably to Japan, or her admiration for certain artists. Her creations, conceived as objects of expression as much as jewels, interact with the world of the collection.

"At the crossroads of tradition and innovation, each piece of jewelry becomes a collector's item, embodying a savoir-faire akin to haute couture."

Her creative process is based on three axes. Signature jewelry emphasizes uniqueness and moves away from the identical reproduction of a model. Emotional Jewelry focuses on memory and family transmission, giving a second life to pieces from the past. Finally, Joaillerie d'exception offers hand-sculpted pieces using the lost-wax technique, engraved and numbered 1/1.

"Reusing stones brought back from a trip or modernizing grandma's ring means giving new life to souvenirs while respecting the environment."

Since 2020, Anne Roussel has been based in the Marais district, a stone's throw from the Place des Vosges, in a workshop allocated by the City of Paris to support the arts and crafts sector. She regularly organizes temporary exhibitions and works with students at the Ecole Boulle, sharing her experience and know-how.

Since 2024, her work has benefited from the Fabriqué à Paris label, a distinction particularly close to her heart.

"The Fabriqué à Paris label is important to me. It's recognition of my work and essential visibility. It's also information I can pass on to buyers, to make them aware of the difference between industrial and artisanal production."
