Roman Wisznia and Pierre-Axel Izerable founded the Quark modular furniture workshop in 2020. Their pegboard, a flagship product with the "Made in Paris" label, aims to optimize spaces in a minimalist, sustainable way. In 2021, Angèle Pavaux, an architect with a degree in carpentry and cabinetmaking, joins the duo as workshop manager.

Roman, initially an energy engineer, developed a passion for woodworking, its artisanal dimension and the concrete relationship with matter it implies. In 2019, he met Pierre-Axel, a sound engineer, with whom he shares a vision of simple, timeless and evolving furniture, capable of meeting the contemporary challenges of interior design. Together, they embark on a reinterpretation of pegboard, the modular shelving unit born in twentieth-century American industrial workshops to optimize the organization of tools.

Their version of the legendary perforated panel, distinguished by its sleek design, is made from thick wood and industrial-grade stainless steel pins. The studio completes the utilitarian and aesthetic dimension of the object by continually developing a range of accessories that adapt to the uses of each home. Quark, which strives to make its products accessible to as many people as possible, also offers custom manufacturing.

Initially based at the Métropole 19 incubator, the team has benefited from a dynamic and stimulating environment. " Here, we're surrounded by people and companies full of ideas. It's very enriching," confides Roman. The space has enabled them to deploy their six CNC machines and centralize production. The studio, which aims to constantly innovate while maintaining high quality standards, places particular emphasis on local manufacturing.

"Considering the rent, logistics and supply constraints faced by a young Parisian company like ours, this deserves recognition," adds the co-founder.

In July 2024, Quark moved into a larger workshop in the Cap 18 business park, marking a new stage in its development, which is focused on people and quality.

" It's hard to start creating, but it has to be fun. You have to be aware of how you feel, and take care of yourself," Roman advises.
