In the heart of the village of Saint-Paul in Paris's 4th arrondissement, designer Marie Rolland invites us into her inspiring studio, where she crafts her creations and immerses us in her "poetic, affective world , which highlights the French territories".

Marie's passion for craftsmanship began when she discovered a piano designed by Thibault Desombre for Pleyel at the age of 8. She later enrolled at theEcole Boulle in the Carpentry workshop and confides: "It was then that I began to write and tell my own story through design and craftsmanship ".

A place of welcome, transmission, exhibition and experimentation, her studio is regularly transformed into a research laboratory for the creation of new materials. She uses tire aggregate, stone, glass and trimmings in her collection of objects Un jour j'irai sur la lune, an invitation to dream and an ode to materials. She hopes to "succeed in bringing surprising materials to people and see how we can change their vision".

Marie draws her inspiration from the land, the environment in which the material is extracted, and her encounters with craftsmen. Thus was born the "grain de sel" table lamp, a tribute to the skills of the sagneur who cultivates and works the reed. The lamp base is made from dehaired reed, each skin removed individually, then bundled and assembled in the craftsman's own way.

"The idea is to showcase its know-how and raw material by bringing it into the home and transforming this raw material into a lamp base".

In the same spirit of showcasing expertise, the collaboration with stained glass artist Marion Clavier was inspired by the dewy salt flats. The aim is to create sustainable interior stained glass, whose materials evolve over time, revealing a changing landscape.

Marie Rolland also organizes workshops in her boutique, with the aim of transmitting and communicating these skills and giving participants a taste for craftsmanship: "I've always wanted to organize and offer workshops for everyone".

The designer joined the fabriqué à Paris label in 2018, and since then has renewed her interest every year in this City scheme, a springboard in terms of opportunities and visibility. " It's also a community, and opens up the workshop to new contacts and collaborations."

After her first stopover in the Camargue, Marie confides that she wants to " continue her tour of France's arts and crafts " and continue meeting regional artisans.
