In 2017, Lucille Boitelle left Pierre Frey to set up her own workshop. " For five years, I produced drawings for this house and acted as a link between creation and the factory. I also had access to incredible archives. Seeing these boxes with their hand-drawn designs was a revelation. As no-one was working in this way any more, preferring digital, I decided to bring it back up to date and do it independently. It was a bit of a folly, a challenge!

She took up the challenge. It took her four years to devise a protocol based on hand drawings, digitally cut into sequences and easily modifiable by publishers. Pierre Frey, Nobilis and Casamance immediately put their trust in this talented ornamental painter who, during her studies, combined classical applied arts, industrial design and textiles. " I'm now in full expansion, collaborating more and more with interior designers. I don't just focus on textiles. I also make wallpapers directly in acrylic. I love this material, which allows me to play with thick matte effects as well as transparency. " Her style?

Delicacy and a desire to tell stories are the common threads running through his creations. " This award comes at a key moment. I've undertaken to create a matériauthèque where I'll catalogue all the nuances of my work and promote my ability to work on new supports, ceramics, lava... in conjunction with art craftsmen. What's more, I'm completing my residency at Les Ateliers de Paris and will be moving into a new space. The Prize will enable me to move forward more serenely towards this dual project. "
