"I heard about the Savoir-faire en transmission award from a teacher at my school. Another of my teachers put us in touch with Suzy Gallo. We hit it off and decided to collaborate" - Lucie Carrière

Lucie Carrière, winner of the 2023 Savoir-faire en transmission awards, is doing her internship at Suzy Gallo's Colore ton Monde natural dye workshop in Sceaux. She specialized in textile design, obtaining a Diplôme National des Métiers d'Art et du Design - Matériaux in 2022, and completed her training in Aurélia Leblanc's workshop in 2022.

Colore ton Monde 's activity is guided by the transmission of know-how, militating for the socio-ecological transition of color-related professions. The association offers innovative workshops and training courses for discovering and applying natural dyes to the textile and paint industries, as well as a high-quality custom dyeing service for textile professionals. The workshop has also set up a project for the creation of fashion and decorative textile objects in conjunction with various trades (embroidery, weaving, knitting).

For Suzy Gallo, it's really important to pass on these skills, both to designers who want to learn more about vegetable dyeing, and to younger people to help them discover the techniques involved. "The aim of these training courses is really to take on the role of ambassador for this craft, and to keep it alive and not let it fall into oblivion.

Trained in vegetable dyeing at the workshop, Lucie has recently begun more experimental work in dyeing and weaving, in collaboration with Suzy. They are also developing a new activity within the workshop, the creation of a range of garments and objects.

"Lucie is a weaver, I'm a dyer, and we complement each other very well in our work. We learn from each other on a daily basis, so in the end it's a two-way street, and that's good for our work."

Lucie would like to build on her experience with Colore ton Monde. "After the workshop, I'd like to continue this reflection on color and upcycling. Thinking about objects and garments related to my research between color and weaving, seeing how to combine the two in the best way while using natural dyeing."
