"What interests me about crafts, beyond their perpetuation, is taking them into the future, bringing them to life and making them contemporary. It goes beyond what we can just glimpse, when we see behind the scenes" - Coline Boudier

Coline Boudier, winner of the 2023 Savoir-faire en transmission awards, is currently working at the Invenio Flory studio in Le Pré-Saint-Gervais, alongside Flory Brisset.

After training in bookbinding and gilding, Coline Boudier specialized in book and paper design at La Cambre school in Belgium.

At the confluence of craft, design and art, the Invenio Flory studio, created in 2011, is a multi-disciplinary studio-workshop-gallery, dedicated to the creation of ornaments, 3D objects and innovative spaces and events. Invenio Flory, which has been awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, designs one-off pieces or small series based on the skills of excellence in the crafts, notably embroidery and featherwork, while incorporating technological innovation.

The studio's approach appealed to Coline, which led her to apply for the Prize.

"What interested me was the practice of traditional skills such as embroidery, but above all an approach based on innovation, pushing know-how towards new research processes".

During her internship, Coline was able to progressively learn new techniques such as crochet, and work on experimental projects in the furniture/decoration field, testing new materials and developing her creativity. She is also involved in a research project in the field of sampling, with the aim of mounting an exhibition in partnership with a network of designers and craftsmen. This gives her a full spectrum of the company's activities, "several strings to her bow".
" The timing of the Prize is right: starting in January gives you a few months to get into the swing of things, to train and gain a little more self-confidence".

Coline has also acquired skills in business management, communication, sales prospecting and order management. "An important part of my motivation for joining the Awards scheme was to be at the heart of how a workshop works. It's a great opportunity to be able to put these actions into practice, to be in real-life conditions".

As for Flory Brisset, she appreciates the collaboration with Coline, who enriches the studio's creations with her skills in bookbinding. "The multidisciplinary nature of the studio is very enriching, allowing us to go beyond our own comfort zone and cross-fertilize our respective disciplines, for example in the creation of an embroidered panel using 3D printing.
